18ct Yellow Gold Vermeil Silver and Smokey Quartz Gravity Necklace

This exceptional necklace features natural smoky quartz cabochon set on 18 carat yellow gold vermeil solid sterling silver. This ring is beautifully handcrafted using 100% recycled gold vermeil and solid sterling silver. Gold, of at least 2.5 microns, is beautifully layered on top of sterling silver to create a finish five times thicker than average gold plating, and more durable. The pendant measures approximately (L) 50 mm x (W) 22 mm x (D) 17 mm. The length of chain is 60 cm. Layer with chunky choker for impact or add smaller charms or s statement piece on its own. The collection is to challenge our perception to make hard materials look soft with the form of the metal and the distortion of the form seeing through rock crystal by illusion. The one of the important thing to consider in the jewellery design process is to think about the weight of each piece. Thinking about how the wearer feel about the weight of each piece when it’s been worn is as important as calculating the actual weight of the metal and stones. The reason why we all feel the weight of each items is that there is the force of gravity. The form of the soft material would change because of the gravity, however we only use hard materials in the fine jewellery industry, because of the durability of each items which could be worn more than 1000 years and more with good care.
