A high-capacity gas purifying system designed to reduce contaminants in gases commonly used in laboratory applications to low-ppb levels, available in two models. The AFS Purifier I removes oxygen, mositure and hydrocarbons, (greater than C4) from inert gases and hyrdogen. It contains high-sensitivity oxygen and moisture indicator. When cartridge is depleted the oxygen indicator changes from GREEN to GREY. The Moisture indicator changes from BLUE to BROWN. Both AFS Purifier I and AFS Purifier II have a very high capacity and can be expected to supply four GC’s for at least one year when used with 99.995% pure gas supplies (provided reasonable care is taken during tank changes). Because of its very high capacity, the AFS also offers a low overall cost of operation for supply gas purification. With reasonable care in use, the AFS will purify approximately 45 cylinders of gas at 99.995% purity, meaning that it will only have to be changed one-tenth as often as small-cartridge systems. The AFS comes in two versions, the AFS I for carrier gas and ECD make-up gas, and the AFS II for FID supply gases.
